What to Do When You’re Bored of All Your Recipes

by Lex

Raise your hand if you’ve stared into your pantry and thought: “Ugh… I’ve made everything I know, and I’m officially bored of my own cooking.” ✋ Yep, same. Don’t worry — it happens to the best of us.

Here are some ways to shake things up and actually enjoy cooking again:

1. Check Out My Page (Duh!)

Of course, the first place to look is my blog. 😉 I’ve got recipes, baking ideas, and fun twists on classics that might just spark some inspiration.

2. Take a Cooking Class (Even Virtually)

Cooking with a friend, partner, or joining an online class is a fun way to try something new.

  • On a budget? YouTube is basically free cooking school.
  • Bonus: cooking with someone else = more fun and less pressure to get it “perfect.”

3. Cook the Alphabet

Here’s a fun challenge: every recipe has to feature an ingredient that starts with the next letter of the alphabet. Start with “A” and work your way through. It’s silly, creative, and makes you think outside your usual rotation.

4. Chef’s Roulette

Flip to a random page in a cookbook… or scroll somewhere random on Pinterest. Whatever recipe you land on, make it. This keeps things spontaneous and fun — and maybe you’ll discover a new favorite dish!

5. Try a Food Subscription Service

Personally, my husband and I love doing a food subscription service for a few months to get fresh recipe ideas without being overwhelmed by online scrolling.

Why it works:

  • Ingredients are pre-portioned
  • Instructions come with pictures and are easy to follow
  • You get to try something new without the stress of planning

We usually do HelloFresh every other week for about two months. (And no, this post is not sponsored — this is literally what we do.)

💡 Pro tip: New accounts often get really good deals, so it’s a fun way to test it out without spending a ton.

Here’s a Free Box if you want to try it!

The Takeaway

Boredom in the kitchen happens to everyone. The key is to mix things up in ways that are fun, easy, and pressure-free. Whether it’s trying a new recipe from my blog, taking a virtual cooking class, or subscribing to a food kit for a few weeks, there are so many ways to rediscover your love for cooking.
